The City of Plano has received notification from the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) that Lavon Lake is experiencing winter algal bloom. The bloom can impact the taste and odor of treated water for some sensitive water drinkers. This change doesn’t alter the quality or safety of City of Plano water which is provided by NTMWD.
NTMWD has taken several proactive steps to minimize the taste and odor changes caused by algal blooms. They have also implemented an ozonation plan for the Wylie Water Treatment Plants to reduce the taste and odor caused by algal blooms. Visit www.ntmwd.com for all the details.
